

To claim that the approach of the previous chapter is the only correct one would be a mistake in today’s context. Today, while remaining faithful to traditional techniques, we can at the same time bring in contemporary ideas, reflecting present issues or personal experiences.
This chapter presents works in which the masters turn to Kufic style and traditional instruments, but also endow the works with modern interpretations.
The works show that kufi opens up opportunities for experimentation: the artists boldly go beyond traditional calligraphy, finding new forms and meanings.
