AES+F
Monograph of Russia’s most famous contemporary artists. Since 1987, AES+F has been working at the interface of painting, sculpture, photography, video and new technologies. They won world recognition in the Russian pavilion at the 52nd Venice Biennale in 2007 through their provocative, back-to-back video studio «The Last Rebellion» (2007). By constantly widening the boundaries of its practice, between 2016 and 2019, the group also worked on the design of video-decorations for theatre and opera. Tom is demonstrating a psychoanalytic approach that is at the heart of their language and provocations, designed to induce an audience to self-reflexia that changes their perception of the world and society. Visual travel is divided into three chronological sections corresponding to the most significant changes in their conceptual evolution and covering their practices from 1995 to 2020.
The eternal dream of bookmakers has come true — the appearance of living images at the turn of events! The main work of AES+F is video installation, but there’s nothing sadder than screen shots of video. For the monograph, a computer detection technology was used to download video from the cloud onto the screen of the devices.
