Старый менестрель поет о вражде кланов Скоттов и Карров, во время которой гибнет глава Скоттов. Его дочь Маргарет тайно любит Генри из враждебного клана, но мать (леди) не дает согласия на брак. Ситуация накаляется, когда маленького сына леди похищают. Генри благородно спасает мальчика в решающем поединке, и вражда прекращается, влюбленные получают благословение, а менестрель завершает свою историю.
